The First Hair Cut...

Thinking back I never would've thought Oakley would be getting his first hair cut so soon in life. After all, he wasn't born with much hair and have you seen his dad lately? ha ha ha. As it turns out he has a decent amount of hair, and it comes as no surprise that it's curly. Josh and I actually had a discussion on whether or not to cut Oakley's hair. I thought it needed to be trimmed because he had so many different lengths and I felt it needed to be evened out. Josh on the other hand disagreed as he wanted Oakley's hair to grow long and curly by the time he's 2 so he could tell his son about all the tail he'll get because he's sooooo darn cute. "You'll have them eating out of your palm." I believe is how he explained it to the boy. Well, after consulting our friend Shauna (who cuts hair for a living) we decided it was in Oakley's best interest to get his shabby chic hair trimmed just a tad. The funny thing is I was telling him how handsome he was after he got it cut and I think he agreed because he kept flashing his pearly whites at me with this look like "I know, mom."

And The Race Is On...

22 Weeks!

I didn't think it was possible to get sucked into a chain blog, but I did. My friend Nicole posted a game on her blog and it sounds really fun...the catch is in order to receive your prize you have to do the same on your blog. Here's the deal, the first 5 people to post a comment under this entry asking me a question that you don't already know the answer to and want to know about me, will get a treat from me. It'll be something that I will personally create just for you. I can't guarantee you'll love it, but it will be a one of kind Denise concoction. It could range from a simple recipe that I love to kitchen towels that are designed just for you. Who knows, but that's the fun of it you have no idea what will show up on your doorstep. Oh yeah, and you have to post a picture of what you win on your blog as well.

Welcome To Utah!

Ok, so I realize that for most of you this is no big deal, but for us California transplants to little ole Utah, this is the best news ever. As some of you know, In N Out Burger opened in St. George Utah last year (4 hour drive away). However, for all of us living in Salt Lake County it still remains out of reach. Well, hallelujah they announced just the other day they are opening an In N Out Burger in Draper, UT. This means the worlds best cheeseburgers will be all of 10 miles away. Now, there isn’t a whole lot Josh & I miss from California besides our family, friends, Cheesecake Factory, Claim Jumper, El Pollo Loco, and In N Out Burger. Well, they opened a Cheesecake Factory last year and most of our family lives here (with the exception of my sister’s family and Josh’s sister’s family), and now we will have In N Out Burger. It’s like we never left California.

~Friends & Family~

Our little shark.

Ooooo sting ray!

Can I pet the spider?

What's down here dad?
Let me see let me see.

This weekend two of my girlfriends flew in from California and Vegas. Wendie and Shelby are two of my dearest friends from high school. It was nice to have girl time since I don't really get much of that anymore. Primarily because most of my friends work and those that don't I can't really call up and say "Will you go to the fabric store with me today because I can't decide on a print that I like for a picture board." Well I could, but you'd all tell me to go fly a kite because you have your own chores and kids to take care of. So, one of the exciting things we did this weekend was go to the fabric store to help me pick out a print for a picture board I've been wanting to make. Yeah!
They flew in Friday night and of course we were up til 1:00am talking about life, kids, and the pursuit of happiness. That led to a "remember when" session which ended with us looking up old high school chums on Facebook. We all got quite a bellyache from laughing so hard. You know the guys in high school that you thought were sooooooooooo hot? Yeah, and now they are soooooooooooooooooo fat!
Saturday we ventured downtown to visit a little bakery that Wendie was told to have pastries that measured up to the pastries she had in Paris. I don't think it quite hit the mark for her, but you know me I'll never turn down anything that's baked and has sugar on it. Later that day we went to the aquarium in Sandy. My mom works for CVE so we had free passes and we also got the grand tour of the exhibits they are adding on (still under construction). It was quite educational although Oakley could've cared less. He just wanted to play in the sting ray pool, splash water all over everybody, and run around like a mad man. Oh, and fyi Josh is now contemplating on becoming the sponsor for the anaconda exhibit.
Sunday was a lazy day. We went to Toys R Us because Wendie has been wanting to get Oakley a Sit N Spin since his birthday. The amazing thing is no one carries them anymore except Toys R Us. How sad that a 36 year old toy doesn't exist on the toy store shelves anymore. Can you believe they've been around this long? We also went to the fabric store then called it a day. The rest of the day we spent in my kitchen talking and eating and talking and eating. It was so nice to spend time with them I miss not having them around all the time, but it makes our visits more special. I love you guys, thanks for a wonderful weekend.

Royal Bliss Halftime Party!

Our friends John & Shauna live a couple blocks down from us. Last week John devoted his time to win a contest with 97.5 THE BLAZE. They were offering a halftime performance from ROYAL BLISS at your Super Bowl party. John & Josh made sure John's bar was ready just in case he won so they spent time setting up cameras, live feeds etc. etc. You know, all that stuff that Josh loves to do. Believe it or not John & Shauna won. The guys from the Blaze and Royal Bliss showed up at kickoff and partied with us til 4th quarter. They gave an acoustic performance at halftime that was just awesome. We were so thankful that they chose John's little neighborhood bar to come play for. It's something we'll never forget, so when you guys make it big don't forget about us little West Jordain's.
